Volunteer Randy Mitchell, a.k.a. Dakota, of Placerville, left, talks about methods of preserving hides and students examine a collection of various animal pelts and snake skins on display in the multi-purpose room at Gold Oak School during Living History Day on May 17th. Rainy weather prompted the displays to be moved indoors however, other activities, such as archery, sack races, bean bag toss and gold panning continued on outside. Live music for the event was provided by Fred and Cheryll (c.q.) Kent of Hickory Wind. Photo by Shelly Thorene
