In May, it was one year since I went solo. Locals in the Placerville area know me as a newspaper photographer and I am still doing freelance work for the Mountain Democrat. It is one of the many ways I earn a living. I signed on with Captivating Sports and can pick and choose which marathons, 10K's and bicycle races I want to cover which is awesome because I enjoy the fast action of sports photography. My colleague and I have done more formal on location studio portraits for several local businesses, the El Dorado County Supervisors and the Miwok Band of Shingle Springs Indians. I have also photographed several fundraisers for local non-profit agencies. I enjoy so many aspects of photography, including fine art, that it is difficult for me to pick one thing and stick to it. I like to joke and say that I am a general contractor of photography. It has been a very fulfilling year with never a dull moment. I am looking forward to meeting new clients and I strive to continue learning and growing in my chosen career.
I made the decision, recently, to pursue my my own business full-time and I am loving it. One area I have been interested in developing for a long time is being of service to people in the real estate industry. I enjoy photographing homes, doing business portraits and head shots and am currently meeting with people in the industry to see where I can be of service, finding out what people want and designing a variety of packages to fulfill the needs. I look forward to posting some special offers for June as a way to introduce myself and I am super excited!
